How to find out IP address of windows XP,7,8

This is a small tutorial on how to find out your computer IP address if you are running windows XP or windows 7

Windows 7/Vista

  • Click Start
  • Type  “cmd” into the search box and press ENTER
  • Once the black box appears type “ipconfig” and press ENTER
  • The first section of text beneath where your typed should be titled Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection.  Within that section there should be an IPv4 Address.  The set of numbers after that label is the IP Address

Windows XP

  • Click Start and select All Programs then Accessories and open Command Prompt.
  •  Once the black box appears type “ipconfig” and press ENTER
  •  The first section of text beneath where your typed should be titled Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection.  Within that section there should be an IPv4 Address.  The set of numbers after that label is the IP Address
